ShowHeroes Group acquires PlayAd Media Group

Swedish video solutions provider PlayAd Media Group, based in Stockholm and active in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland, was acquired by ShowHeroes Group, the leading independent provider of digital video solutions for publishers and advertisers in Europe.

The announcement is the date of the ShowHeroes Group’s second M&A deal in 2021 and the fourth overall, following successful operations in the Netherlands (Streamads), Italy (Viralize), and the United Kingdom (Union Media). It also plans to expand its launch in the Nordic countries in addition to existing markets in Europe. The acquisition increases the ShowHeroes Group’s total monthly video impressions from 2.5 billion to 2.8 billion, increasing the number of unique users per month in Europe from 192 million to nearly 220 million.

Ilhan Zengin, Founder and CEO of ShowHeroes Group: “Receiving PlayAd for the ShowHeroes Group today opens up a wide range of opportunities for all of our business partners and stakeholders. We are proud to offer our semantic matching technology, combined with the largest library of high-quality video content and access to the global demand for premium video ad inventory for the Scandinavian markets. These features perfectly complement PlayAd’s strong offering in the region and help secure its leading position in the Nordic countries. Instead, we at ShowHeroes are excited to bring PlayAd’s outstanding live streaming and asset management solutions to our existing markets in the coming months. “

All services offered to premium publishers and advertisers will be integrated in 2022 with the global ShowHeroes Group brand “ShowHeroes”. All PlayAd solutions and the brand itself will be offered and integrated into the ShowHeroes Group’s list of brands and offers.

Lars Blomberg, President, and CEO of PlayAd Media Group added: “At the beginning of the process with ShowHeroes Group, it was clear that we shared visions for local publishers across all markets. Both companies have successfully built their businesses by combining technology, advertising, video content, and monetization, creating an attractive, quality offering for publishers and advertisers. Working with the ShowHeroes group and taking advantage of all the synergies we see together is the right step for us. We couldn’t ask for a better partner to continue to challenge the status quo of leading technology companies and together improve local journalism in the Nordic countries and around the world.”
